Rest In Peace, The Rev…

a.k.a. THE  REV

(February 10, 1981 – December 28, 2009)

When I woke up this morning… I was thinking about death. Well, actually, it happened since yesterday evening. And I almost couldn’t sleep last night. Yesterday I heard a shocking news that the drummer of Avenged Sevenfold (A7X), The Rev, was found dead in his home because of ‘nature causes’. Well, A7X has visited Indonesia 2 times and I will never had a chance to attend the next concert (if that would happen) with their ‘whole complete official formation’. I mean… He was like… The best drummer in the world ever…! And A7X will never be the same without him.

Well, I’m not a very very huge fan of A7X actually, I think. Because I didn’t go to their concerts (I only watched their Live in LBC concert on DVD) or collect their merchandises or posters. But, my deeply sorrow for this loss, because my life has connected to their musics and lyrics. And… Well, u know, it’s just… I feel that… Once u found your friend or a member of your family dead, then… BAM. Your life would never be the same again, trust me. So I know what it feels like. My father is dead because of heart-attack, and also one of my aunt (it was very shocking news… Because it felt like a sudden death), and one of my cousin is dead because of  liver-sickness (some part of my family said that it’s because of the effect of drugs using… Well he was a rocker and involved in a wrong way with wrong friends).

After The King of Pop Michael Jackson, then young actress Brittany Murphy, and now The Rev in his 28 years old. And it happened at the end of the year 2009. Sometimes life seems so short.  Like I can die tomorrow or maybe today. And it suddenly reminds me of Soe Hok Gie,  an Indonesian intellectual/activist who against tyranny in 60’s era who died also in his young age. He died at the day before his 27th birthday.

Okay, enough to write. Rest in peace, The Rev. You were the best drummer in the world ever. A7X will never be the same without you…

Sorry for your dad and cousin..
I can promise to you, your dad and your cousin aren’t dead. They’re living in your heart and heaven. When you feel bad, just remind the times you passed togheter that I’m sure you’ll be better.
